The complex geometry of Islamic art
Islamic art
or Islamic art (Arabesque) was made to commemorate Islam. This art style is
mostly found in Masjids (Prayer areas for Muslims). Islamic art is a symbol of
Islam and is a very old art form, dating back to the 7th century! It
was founded in Muslim populated countries at the time, and just started to gain
popularity across the world and the music countries. This art form is known for
the intricate shapes and symmetry, with beautiful colors.
For making
arabesque art, you have to have a ruler, paints, a pencil and if you want, a
compass. The features of Islamic Geography are symmetry most importantly,
Repeated shapes and colors and more. The shapes that people use for Islamic
geography are simple shapes such as squares and circles, then there are ore
hard shapes, such as pentagons, triangles and hexagons.
Construction
lines are when you make faint lines as a sort of lead as to what you want. For
example, you can make various different shapes and patterns with these
construction line. Another important feature of Arabesque is repetition, which
means repeating the same thing over and over again. Tessellation is an
arrangement of shapes close to each other, without overlapping or leaving big
gaps in between these shapes. In Arabesque they also use complex patterns and
shapes such as dots in an array of patterns and many more. This art includes a
lot of different shapes, complex and simple. Lastly, symmetry is a shape, that
is mirrored with a line of symmetry.
